Beer On a Tricycle In China

Time to talk about my favorite subject of all times: beer. Here we have a motorized beer transporting tricycle, seen in June 2011 at a late night market in Beijing. The tricycle was loaded with crates of delicious Tsingtao Dayou (青岛 大优) beer. As you can see, the brand and the type of the beer were printed on the back side of the vehicle. Distribution at its best!

A Very Lucky Truck On The Highway In China

A heavy truck seen on the mighty Fifth Ring Road in Beijing on a cloudy and polluted winter’s day in 2014. The truck was dusty but extremely lucky: the license plate has four sixes, and 6 is a lucky number in Chinese culture, associated with good fortune in business.

Longqi Tricycle Is A Tiny Five-Door EV From China

Here we have a pretty Longci Tricycle, a 3-wheel electric vehicle with five doors. It looks brilliantly cool in red-white two tone paint, with a bull bar, a sun roof, a roof rack, a shiny grille, and a large single windshield wiper.

This Tank Thing Is actually A Jeep Cherokee XJ Underneath

A tank thing, seen in Hebei Province to the east of Beijing in the winter of 2019. Contraptions like these are sometimes used by restaurants to ‘fire’ fireworks during wedding ceremonies and other miserable celebrations.

Chinese Truck Is Slightly Overloaded With Carton In Beijing

Chinese Truck Is Slightly Overloaded With Carton In Beijing

A pretty blue Dongfeng DFAC truck carrying a very heavy load of discarded carton, seen in the far east of Beijing back in 2016. The load is so heavy indeed that the truck almost seemed to break, check the position and angle of the rear wheel! DFAC stands for Dongfeng Automobile Corporation, a major Chinese truck maker, and a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor.

Truck In China Is Slightly Overloaded With Carton In China

Yes, really everything goes on the highway in China, like this enormous truck seen on the mighty 5th Ring Road in Beijing. The truck was totally and dangerously overloaded with discarded carton, and likely on its way to a recycling facility.

Iron Poles Are Lying Loose On A Truck On The Highway In China

Everything goes on the highway in China, like this old and tired truck seen on the mighty 5th Ring Road in Beijing. The truck is loaded with iron poles and other construction waste, and likely on its way to a recycling facility.

Sunra Electric Scooter Is Fast And Furious In China

I have always loved fuzzy factory decals on all sorts of vehicles in China. The best such decals can be found on electric scooters, especially on scooters made in until 2015 or so. Today, somewhat sadly, most Chinese scooter makers have vastly improved their branding efforts. This red Sunra scooter I found in Beijing is fantastically old school decal-wise. It comes with a wild ‘Racing Fast and Furious’ decal on the rear fender.

A Horse-drawn Carriage With Watermelons In Beijing

Horse-drawn Carriage

A horse-drawn carriage, seen in central Beijing in 2009. The horse appeared to be in great shape, with a fine hide and strong legs. The carriage has four wheels, small ones up front and larger ones at the rear. The front axle turns with the horse. The animal’s owner was selling super fresh and testy watermelons. This was near my house, and I always bought from this guy in summer. He came from a village to the east.

A Man With A White Hat In Beijing

A man in a white hat approaching me on a summer’s day on a road in old central Beijing sometime in 2010. He came with the sun! He was related to the woman sitting on the horse cart on the other side, and curious why I was curious about them. In the process, I took one of my best pictures ever. Thank you, man in white hat. It was just that one moment in time. Continue reading “A Man With A White Hat In Beijing”
