Cool Chinese Police Cars In Chongqing, China, In 2010

Back in the spring of 2010, I went to the great Chinese megacity of Chongqing for work. When I had time off, I went out to check cars. Not far from the banks of the Yangtze River, I bumped into a flock of Chinese police cars. The vehicles were unattended, just how I liked it, so I had a good look around.

We Are Southpark

A statue of Eric Theodore Cartman (‘Cartman’), the main and most important character in the Southpark animated sitcom television series. Cartman stood on a parking lot in front of a wall on a box behind a vase behind some rubbish. He had the finger up, pointing to the rear, and the other hand in fist.

There didn’t seem any connection between the statue and its surroundings; a parking lot. Sire, Cartman looked very angry with, but Cartman is always angry with something, so that doesn’t say very much. The paint of the statue was fading, so I guess it must have been there for quite a while, occupying a precious parking space. But who’d ever dare to question Cartman about that..?

Hey Lindsay! You Look Hot In Beijing

It’s Lindsay Lohan, seen on a poster advertising a magazine in the summer of 2011 in Beijing. The summers are hot in the Chinese capital. Get Your Beetle A6 Die Cast Car Model In Pink Or Red In China

A ‘Beetle A6 Coupé’, seen in a toy store in China in 2015. The toy car depicts the A5 Volkswagen Beetle, made from 2011 until 2019. This kind if die cast models are totally unlicensed and very common in China. To et around probable copyright issues, toy makers often invent new names that are close to the original but not close enough to cause trouble.

The Chinese text says ‘德国大众汽车’, or ‘German Volkswagen Car’. The model was made by toy maker MZ Model (美致模型), based in Shantou, Guangdong province. The shop had two on offer, one in shiny pink and one in dark red. Scale was about 1:32 and it sold for 88 yuan, which was a little steep for this kind of model. But I guess the pink one was worth it.
