The SAIC Z7 is a new Chinese fastback sports sedan with an electric powertrain. I went to a HIMA store in west Beijing to check it out. The S7 packs some serious power and technology. Let’s have a look:

Here’s a Mazda 323 sedan, seen in Dongba District in Beijing in May 2016. The good Mazda looked incredibly good and perfectly maintained, like a time capsule from the early 2000s, painted in a light-beige color and still on the factory-original seven-spoke wheels.

This is a Geely Boyue REV SUV-coupe. I saw it earlier this year at a Geely dealer in the far southwest of Beijing. The Boyue REV has a range-extender electric powertrain, good for a maximum range of 1525 kilometers.

Here’s a classic BMW 525i, seen in the Sanlitun embassy area in Beijing in the winter of 2013. The German sedan was a little dusty, but otherwise in great shape. It also has rare blue 京A license plates.
Here’s a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, one of the most consequential and influential Chinese cars of this decade. The SU7 banged on the stage in late 2025, featuring a tri-motor powertrain with 1548 hp.

Here’s a Fiat Viaggio S, seen in the far east of the Chinese capital, Beijing, parked next to a Hyundai Elantra taxi. The sporty Italian sedan was in great shape, with its bright red paint shining in the summer sun.

This is the Baojun Yep Plus, seen in the late afternoon in Beijing. The Yep Plus looked great in Azure Blue with a white roof and tinted windows. The boxy SUV packs 102 hp, and it has a 402-kilometer range.

This is an IM L6, a Chinese electric sports sedan with distinctive boomerang-shaped headlights. It has a lidar on the roof and a millimeter-wave radar under the license plate. I met the pretty sedan in the far south of the Chinese capotal Beijing.
