About China's Coolest Cars
An ultra-rare AMG Japan Mercedes-Benz 300 GE Cabriolet, seen on the premises of FB City in northeast Beijing. The old Mercedes looked stunning, almost as-new, painted in a beautiful shade of black with the original alloy wheels. The owner fitted modern headlights, but the rest of the car is so perfect, so I can live with that.

This odd machine is a Ruf Freiheit. I saw it in north Beijing in August 2018. The Freiheit looked great in silver with darkened windows and classic five-spoke Ruf racing wheels.
Here’s a Volvo 240 GL sedan, seen at a car repair shop in northeast Beijing in 2018. Someone parked the poor Volvo in the back of the building, surrounded by electric motorbikes and parts.
This is the Tank 300 Cyberknight, seen at the Cyberspace shop in Beijing. Cyberspace is a Chinese car modification company. It is most famous for collaborating with Great Wall Motor’s Tank brand. In 2022, Cyberspace and Tank created the spectacular Tank 300 Cyberknight.

Here’s a Zotye Z200 HB, seen in the summer of 2023 near Zhangjiakou in China’s Hebei Province. The compact hatchback was in reasonable shape, painted in silver with cracks in the bumpers and other minor damage to the body. The license plate is from Hebei Province.
Here’s a Changan CX20, seen in the summer of 2023 near Zhangjiakou in China’s Hebei Province. The CX20 was in fine shape. The color is Glitter Pearl White, and it has the original 5-spoke alloy wheels.
Car spotting is a busy business. Taking good photos takes time. And time, we never have enough. Sometimes, when on the road, we are happy to snap one or two pics of a cool car. To show you all these vehicles, we start a new series: Various Cool Cars In China (VCCIC). This is Part 1, with various cars seen in Beijing in the summer of 2016.
We begin with a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG with matching license plates. The G-Class was mightily popular in the late 2000s and 2010s. The big SUV was big on power, with a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 571 hp and 760 Nm. IT had a 210 km/h top speed, and 0-100 took 5.4 seconds.
Here’s a nice Honda Civic sedan with black Beijing license plates. I met it in the far east of Beijing in the hot summer of 2016. The good Honda was in fine shape, painted white with darkened windows and sporty six-spoke alloy wheels.

This is a Forthing T5 EVO, seen at a car market in Beijing in 2024. The SUV is painted in Star White, with darkened light units, a black grille, and black alloy wheels. The name is cool, but what about the rest of the car?

This is a Geely Galaxy E5, seen in south Beijing in 2024. It is painted in a pretty gray color called Streamer Silver. It has slender, darkened headlights, sporty aero wheels, and darkened windows. The charging port is on the right front fender.
