This is a Forthing T5 EVO, seen at a car market in Beijing in 2024. The SUV is painted in Star White, with darkened light units, a black grille, and black alloy wheels. The name is cool, but what about the rest of the car?
About Forthing

Forthing is a Chinese car brand, founded in 2001. Its owner is Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor (DFLZM), itself a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Group (DFG). Forthing is the English name. The Chinese name is 风行 (Fēngxíng). The current Forthing logo depicts a white lion on a black shield. Forthing sells a wide-ranging series of ICE/PHEV/EV SUVs, MPVs, sedans, and vans.

The Forthing T5 EVO, with an orange middle – line in the E, is a compact SUV. Forthing launched it in 2020. Forthing manufactures the T5 EVO in Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province.

The design of the Forthing T5 Evo is quite sporty, with a low hood, wide fenders, darkened windows, black window frames, roof rails, a large spoiler above the rear window, and four (!) shiny exhaust pipe tips.
Interior

The owner fitted thick seat covers and an even thicker steering wheel cover. It has a twin-10.24-inch screen, one for the instrument panel and the other for the infotainment.

That’s a proper seat cover, but some of the faux-red leather is still visible. The T5 EVO is furthermore equipped with a six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, 4G internet, and it accepts OTA upgrades.
Specifications

The Forthing EVO T5 is a compact SUV with front-wheel drive. Size: 4595/1860/1690, 2715, with a 1500 kg curb weight. The engine is a sweet 1.5-liter turbo with 197 hp and 285 Nm. The Forthing T5 EVO is quite a rare bird in Beijing, but down south it’s more common. Therefore, whenever I see one in the capital, I make sure to take a flock of photos. The EVO T5 is still available today, in various variants. There is a sports version too, and an EV. The standard car, like the one in this post, costs between 88.900 and 128.900 yuan ($12.4K-$18K).

Photo from Forthing’s website, note the flying containers. What is that all about?
