Decommissioned Police Cars In China: Beijing-Jeep Cherokee, Toyota Land Cruiser, Volkswagen Santana, And Many More

I love Chinese police cars. In the summer of 2018, I was riding around the far east of Beijing with my red Luyuan electric scooter. At one moment, I crossed a railway and found a yard filled with decommissioned police cars from the 1990s, including many classic Beijing Jeep Cherokees.

That made my day. Two elderly police men guarded the place; they were playing cards in the gray building in the background. They didn’t show much surprise about me showing up, and didn’t mind me walking around and taking photos. So, here we go:

Various Cool Cars In China Part 1

Car spotting is a busy business. Taking good photos takes time. And time, we never have enough. Sometimes, when on the road, we are happy to snap one or two pics of a cool car. To show you all these vehicles, we start a new series: Various Cool Cars In China (VCCIC). This is Part 1, with various cars seen in Beijing in the summer of 2016.

We begin with a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG with matching license plates. The G-Class was mightily popular in the late 2000s and 2010s. The big SUV was big on power, with a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 571 hp and 760 Nm. IT had a 210 km/h top speed, and 0-100 took 5.4 seconds.

Cool Chinese Police Cars In Chongqing, China, In 2010

Back in the spring of 2010, I went to the great Chinese megacity of Chongqing for work. When I had time off, I went out to check cars. Not far from the banks of the Yangtze River, I bumped into a flock of Chinese police cars. The vehicles were unattended, just how I liked it, so I had a good look around.

A Flock Of Cool Supercars In Shanghai, China In 2014

Supercars In Shanghai! In 2014, I visited two second-hand supercar shops along Wuzhong Road in Shanghai. This road is home to many car-related businesses, and one of the shops I visited is still around today. The shops sold all sorts of very expensive supercars.

The first car that I saw was an open-top Lamborghini.  It looked like a Murcielago SV from the outside, but there was a problem: Lamborghini only made the SV coupe; they never made an SV Roadster.

Supercars At the Shopping Mall In China – Lamborghini Versace And McLaren P1

And that day in 2017 I went to one of my favorite shopping malls in Beijing to get some food. To my greatest surprise, there was a tent on the parking lot with three supercars:   a Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Versace, a McLaren P1, and a Ferrari California. The Lamborghini is the rarest so we start with that one.
