A Voyah Dreamer, seen in the rain in Beijing in the summer of 2023. The Voyah Dreamer is a large Chinese MPV with an advanced EREV powertrain. The Dreamer looked great in white, with darkened windows and matte gray alloy wheels.

Voyah is a high-end NEV brand under Dongfeng Motors (DFM). The Voyah brand was launched in 2020. Voyah sells 3 cars at the moment: the Voyah Free SUV, the Voyah Passion sedan, and the Voyah Dreamer MPV.

High-end MPVs are very popular in China. The segment is growing fast, with many Chinese automakers adding people carriers to their lineup. Most are sold to extended families: parents + kids + grandparents.

The Voyah Dreamer is a big car. Size is 5315/1985/1800, with a 3200 wheelbase. It seats seven in a 2/2/3 configuration. Voyah sells the Dreamer with two different powertrains: PHEV (pictured) and EV.

The PHEV combines a 1.5 turbo with two electric motors, a 51-liter fuel tank, and a 25.5 kWh CATL battery. Combined output is 394 hp and 610 Nm. It has a top speed of 200 km/h and it does 0-100 in 6.6 seconds. The range is 750 kilometers and the EV-only range is 82 kilometers.

The interior is a beauty. Like many Chinese NEV makers, Voyah mostly uses light interior colors, which makes for a modern and spacious look. The cabin-wide screen consists of 3 separate 12.3-inch screens: one for the driver, one for the infotainment, and one for the front passenger.

A car of this size comes with a lot of space. Passengers on the second row have loads of space on every side. The leather seats are ventilated and heated, and pack a message function. Buyers can get an optional ceiling-hinged screen for rear-seat entertainment.

The Dreamer is the most popular Voyah, but sales are sadly a bit slow. In July 2023, Voyah sold 3142 cars. The Dreamer made up 60.28% of that, with 1894 units sold.

One reason may be price. The Voyah Dreamer is not a cheap car. The price of the PHEV version starts at 369,900 yuan or $51K at the moment of writing. That is a lot of cash for an MPV from a relatively unknown brand, even if it has 394 hp.

More on Voyah soon: I also met a Voyah Free, and I visited a Voyah experience store. Stay tuned!
