Fourth Generation Honda Accord Sedan In China With Black Plates – 2

Fourth Generation Honda Accord

Back in April I wrote about a 4th generation Honda Accord sedan with black 京A·03383 license plates. When digging through my archives I found another and very similar car, with 京A·07472 black license plates.

Black license plates were issued to foreign owned companies from the 1980’s to the mid 00’s. These companies could buy a car locally, or import one. There were no limits on the number of cars, or on price, or engine type.

The numbering started at 京A·00001, and then up. So the lower the number the older the car. Any black plate beginning with 京A·0 or 京A·1 is considered ultra rare. I know, I had one too! It is very interesting to see these two Honda Accords with plates that are relatively near to each other in time; 京A·03383 and 京A·07472. That’s just a 4089 car difference. Perhaps they were bought by the same company.

The interior was in a bit of a bad shape. It was a luxury trim level with gray leather seats. The owner installed a brand new radio-CD unit on the low-end of the center stack.

The fourth-generation Honda Accord was made from 1989 until 1993. It was available with 1.8 liter, 2.0, and 2.2 liter petrol engines. Our black car has the 2.2 under the bonnet, with an output of 133 hp and 179 Nm. Transmission was a five-speed manual, as in this car, or a 4-speed automatic.

The original wheel covers were still on the car.

Poor Honda is in urgent need of a clean-up! The fourth generation Accord is very rare in China, so meeting one is always a pleasure. Local production of the Accord started only in 1999 with the sixth-generation.

  1. I saw this one in 2016 without plates and in 2017 it was scrapped together with that whole village. I put the link below with picture

  2. It’s all gone? That’s too bad. But thanks for the photo! (Click on AMS06974)

  3. Yes, in 2017 a lot of this type of villages were demolished. During my years in Beijing I saw quite a number of the cars on your website like that Hongqi CA7460 I think you found in Dongzhimen that I saw abandoned in 2018 in Beijing South. Thanks for all that valuable info!
