BMW Z4 sDrive35i Is Black With An Unlucky License Plate

BMW Z4 sDrive35i

An almost sinister BMW Z4 sDrive35i, seen in Beijing in 2016. The speedy Bimmer is painted in a very dark shade of black, and further darkened by dark light visors, dark windows, and dark wheels.

The E89 BMW Z4 was a roadster with a retractable hardtop roof, made from 2009 until 2016. The E89 was sold in China from 2009 until 2014 in various variants. The Z4 sDrive35i model was powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter inline-6 with an output of 302 hp and 400 Nm, good for a 0-100 in 5.1 seconds. Gearbox was a 7-speed DCT, sending horses to the rear wheels.

The alloy Work Brombacher wheels looked very good on the Z4, but I am not sure the black color is original, considering the way they logo is over-painted.

A tasty interior with white leather seats that contrast nicely with dark black panels and exterior.

The 京N·404Z4 license plate makes for an interesting match. ‘4’ is an unlucky number in Chinese culture, and this license plate has three of ‘m. Apparently the owner ain’t afraid of bad luck. And would he be? He’s got a Z4!

Price for the BMW Z4 sDrive35i in China was 738.000 yuan in 2009. Price went up significantly over the years. In 2013 the same model sold for 799.000 yuan. These BMW’s, you’d better buy ‘m early!
