I spotted a Volkswagen Polo hatchback in a parking lot in south Beijing. At first glance, the Polo looked abandoned, but a closer look showed that it was still in use. This particular Volkswagen Polo stands out with its bright red paint, simple steel wheels, and rare white license plates.

Neta GT: A Chinese Electric Sports Car With 231 HP

Here’s a Neta GT, seen early in the morning in south-central Beijing. The Neta GT is a rare Chinese electric sports car with a long hood and giant headlights. This is the RWD version, with 231 hp and a 190 km/h top speed.

Mazda EZ-6 Is More Chinese Than Japanese

This is the Mazda EZ-6, seen in southern Beijing earlier this summer. The  EZ-6 is a new liftback sedan based on Chinese technology. It is a good-looking car, it looks expensive, especially in this classy Flowing Gold color scheme with dark gray alloy wheels.

Xpeng G7: A Chinese Electric SUV With 218 kW For $28K

This is the Xpeng G7, a Chinese electric SUV. I met the G7 in western Beijing earlier this summer. It was brand new, with the dealer sticker still attached to the windscreen. The G7’s design is interesting, quite daring, and busy to the eye. But it somehow works.
