Neta GT: A Chinese Electric Sports Car With 231 HP

Neta GT

Here’s a Neta GT, seen early in the morning in south-central Beijing. The Neta GT is a rare Chinese electric sports car with a long hood and giant headlights. This is the RWD version, with 231 hp and a 190 km/h top speed.

About Neta

Neta was a Chinese NEV brand launched in 2018. Neta’s parent company was Hozon Auto, founded in 2014 and based in Shanghai. After a promising start, Neta’s sales started to slide during the Pandemic.

It then became involved in several scandals about inflated sales numbers and murky shareholder dealings. Sales went down further, and in September 2025, Neta was declared bankrupt. The company is still trying to reach a deal with its creditors at the moment I am writing these words, but the outcome is highly uncertain.

It’s too bad. Neta was a cool brand, trying cool stuff, and creating unique cars like the Neta GT. Neta’s main problem was the cutthroat competition in its main segment, from the likes of BYD, Changan, Chery, and Xpeng.

That’s a hard battle to fight for any car maker, let alone for a relatively new and unknown outfit like Neta was. I have visited several of their shops over the years and always came away impressed with the brand’s products. These dealers have closed now, but some service centers still exist.

The Neta GT

Neta GT

The Neta GT is an electric sports car. Neta launched it in 2023. It has an almost classic sports car design, low and racy, with a long hood, frameless doors, a cabin with a sloping roofline, and a full-size wing on the boot lid. The GT is quite large for a sports car: 4715/1979/1415, 2770.

The darkened headlights are extra-large as well. At the time of launch, large headlights were no longer as popular as they were in the 2010s, but Neta fitted ‘m anyway, and they kind of work on the GT.

It has beautiful alloy wheels with red Neta-branded brake calipers. The tire size is 245/45 R19.

The interior of the Neta GT

The interior was just as sporty as the exterior. The Jewel Black/Passion Orange cabin is clad in real leather. It has sports seats and a super cool 3-spoke steering wheel with a thick rim and a flat bottom. It has a 10.25-inch driver’s display and a huge 17.6-inch touch screen.

The Neta GT is a 2+2, and the rear seats are only large enough for small children. The owner of the car in the photos uses the rear seats as an extra storage space. Neta furthermore equipped the GT with a 12-speaker sound system, a 63-color ambient lighting system, and a panoramic sunroof.

Neta offered the GT with RWD and AWD power trains. Let’s have a look at the power output:

  1. RWD: 231 hp and 310 Nm. Top speed: 190 km/h. 0-100 in 6.7s.
  2. AWD: 462 hp and 620 Nm. Top speed: 190 km/h. 0-100 in 3.7s.

Note the low front lip and the winglets on the far sides of the bumper.

The car in the photos is the RWD version. It has a 64.27 kWh LFP battery. The fuel consumption is 13.3 kWh, and the range is 560 kilometers. Charging was a bit of a problem for Neta. All of its cars had slower charging speeds than the competition. The GT didn’t really have any competitors, but it charged slowly nevertheless: 30 minutes for 30-80% battery.

From March 2024 until Neta’s end in June 2025, the company sold exactly 731 units. I have only seen a few on the road, all of them the RWD model. Well, it was cool while it lasted.
