About China's Coolest Cars
A BMW 1M Coupe, seen in the Lido area in Beijing. The speedy Bimmer was all dressed up, painted in black with extra wide racing wheels, matte gold alloys, and a rare ‘666’ license plate. Six is a lucky number in China. But even more impressive is the extensive body kit.
A BMW 728iL sedan, seen in Beijing back in 2010. The big Bimmer was in a great shape and wrapped in a tasty smurf blue wrap. An unusual choice of color for a big BMW but the result is pretty good.
The white detailing on the mirrors, air vents, and door handles is a nice idea as well. The wrapper did a great job, it looks neat and tight, almost as if it was painted in smurf blue. The beige leather interior is a good contrast with the blue exterior.
A beautiful dark green E34 BMW 525i sedan, seen in the far outer reaches of the Chinese capital Beijing. The Bimmer stood on a sandy and dusty parking lot in front of a residential building, between all kinds of normal cars, and yet somehow it didn’t look that much out of place. The 525i seemed in a good shape and well-maintained, with a smooth body and without too big dents or bruises.
An almost sinister BMW Z4 sDrive35i, seen in Beijing in 2016. The speedy Bimmer is painted in a very dark shade of black, and further darkened by dark light visors, dark windows, and dark wheels.

A white BMW M3 coupe, seen on cold spring day in Beijing, capital of China. The speedy Bimmer was painted in white and fitted with dark matte black alloys. But best of all was the matching license plate: 京N·M3W79.

A wondrous white BMW 740iL, seen in the far east of Beijing in 2013. The big Bimmer was a bit dusty but otherwise in a very fine shape. It is always great to see one of the greatest German limousines ever on the road in China.

A brand new BMW M6 Gran Coupe, seen in the east of Beijing in 2013. The big Bimmer was painted in silver with a shade of blue. It had a temporarily license plate behind the windshield, which was common at the time for cars that has been purchased but not yet registered.
A wondrous white BMW M3 with an ultra cool 京Y·YM399 license plate, matching the car’s type. The speedy Bimmer is further dressed up with darkened windows, black window frames, and a set of big black wheels. A very nice package indeed.
The E92 BMW M3 coupe was very popular in China; I must have seen hundreds. Power came from a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated B8 engine with 414 hp and 400 Nm, good for a 0-100 in 4.6 seconds. The price for the base model, there were lots of specials as well, started around 1.22 million yuan.
