Here’s a WEY Gaoshan 9 MPV, seen at a car market in Beijing on a sunny spring day. The gigantic MPV looked great, with its super shiny grille, dual-tone color scheme, and sheer size. The Gaoshan 9 is 5.41 meters long…

About WEY

Characters: 魏牌高山9, Wèi Pái Gāoshān 9.

WEY is a brand under Great Wall Motors (GWM), launched in 2016. The Chinese name is 魏牌 (Wèi Pái, lit. “Wey Brand”). GWM named it after the company’s founder, Wei Jianjun (魏建军).

With only 4 cars, the lineup is notably small for a Chinese brand. Sales are okay, WEY usually hovers in the late 40s in the brand sales chart. In April 2026, for example, it sold 7.008 vehicles, good for the 45th spot and a 0.5% market share. The best-selling WEY was the Gaoshan.

The WEY Gaoshan

The WEY Gaoshan is a large six-seat MPV with a PHEV powertrain. There are 3 wheelbase levels: the Gaoshan 7 (3085 mm), the mid-tier Gaoshan 8 (3145 mm), and the top-spec Gaoshan 9 (3275 mm), as shown in the photos. WEY launched the Gaoshan in 2023. The Gaoshan name literally means “High Mountain.”

The WEY Gaoshan 9 model is the most luxurious variant. Classy two-tone paint is standard; in this case, the color name is Deep Space Black / Flowing Gold. The MPV is loaded to the max with bling, with a shiny grille, shiny door handles, and more shiny bars in the bumpers. The rear lights look fantastic, and WEY claims bamboo inspired their design.

The interior

The cabin is super luxurious, spacious, and fitted with high-resolution screens.  There’s Nappa leather everywhere, and beautiful wood trim and aluminium detailing. The wide center tunnel has a large storage space underneath it, big enough, indeed, for a tissue box. WEY calls the interior color “Glow Orange”.

The MPV was tightly parked against a wall. I couldn’t take a photo from the other side, so I borrowed one from WEY. This is also the Gaoshan 9, with the White Cloud interior color. The screen situation: a 12.3-inch driver’s display and a dual 15.6-inch infotainment unit.

In the second row are two extra-wide captain seats, armrests, leg rests, and tray tables. The seats are heated and ventilated, and feature a 10-point massage function. Other equipment includes a fridge, a 17.3-inch rear entertainment screen that folds down from the ceiling, and a 23-speaker sound system with a 2440-watt output.

WEY says a waterfall inspired the grille’s design. We hear that a lot from other car brands, too. Well, Chinese waterfalls ain’t shiny, that’s for sure! But they do reflect sunlight, if the sun shines. Anyway. The WEY Gaoshan 9 costs 353.800 yuan, which translates to $49K.  That’s a pretty good deal for a full-size MPV with so much horsepower.
