Galaxy E8 Is A Slippery Chinese Electric Sedan With 250 kW

Galaxy E8

This is the Geely Galaxy E8, seen at a car market in east Beijing. The Chinese electric sedan looks super pretty in Space Blue, with sharp dark headlights, a racy front bumper, and dark-gray alloy wheels.

About Galaxy

Initially, Galaxy was a series under the Geely brand. However, in 2024, it became a stand-alone brand. The Chinese name is 银河, Yínhé, which means “Milky Way”.

Galaxy has a large and fast-expanding lineup, including the enormous Galaxy M9 SUV. The brand does very well. In February 2026, Galaxy sold 50.814 cars, good for the 5th place in the brand-sales ranking and a 4.91% market share. Sadly, for today’s story, the E8 sedan is Galaxy’s worst-selling model. In February, Galaxy sold only 120 units.

The Galaxy E8

I think that ain’t right! The Galaxy E8 is a beautifully designed car, with perfect proportions and a sporty look. It is slippery too, with a drag coefficient of only 0.199 Cd.

The E8 comes with frameless doors, hidden door handles, large mirrors, and 19-inch wheels. The Galaxy E8 is a large machine: 5010/1920/1465, 2925. Galaxy launched the E8 in 2024.

The interior

The cabin is spacious and luxurious, with a minimalist design. The absolute eye-catcher is the enormous one-piece 45-inch 8K screen. It also had a 25.6-inch HUD.  The wide center tunnel houses a 50W wireless charger, a panel with buttons and a rotary dial, and two cup holders.

The operating system is Meizu Flyme Auto. Meizu is a Chinese mobile phone maker that Geely purchased in 2022. Geely’s main interest was Meizu’s Flyme operating system. This has since been adapted for automotive operations. In early 2026, Geely closed down the mobile phone business to focus on automotive and AI. Geely also uses the Flyme name for all sorts of secondary systems, like:

Flyme Sound

The Galaxy E8 comes with a 23-speaker 2000-watt Flyme Sound audio system, with cool pop-up speakers on the dashboard. Audio systems are a new battleground in China, with ever more speakers and output.

An electric car with a long wheelbase equals loads of legroom in the rear cabin. There are two cup holders between the front seats. The Galaxy E8 is furthermore equipped with a 256-color ambient lighting system and a large panoramic sunroof.

Specifications of the Galaxy E8

Galaxy E8

The Galaxy E8 is based on Geely’s PMA2+ platform. Galaxy offers various combinations of motors and batteries for the E8 sedan. The car in the photos is the Galaxy E8 610 Premium Edition. It has a single-motor rear-wheel drive layout. The output of the electric motor is 250 kW (340 hp) and 373 Nm. Galaxy claims a 210 km/h top speed and 0-100 in 5.49 seconds.

The Galaxy E8 610 Premium Edition has a 67.8 kWh LFP ‘Aegis’ battery, jointly developed by Geely & CATL. Consumption stands at 12.5 kWh/100 kilometers for a CLTC range of 610 kilometers, hence the model name.

The E8 has a 400V architecture, which is a tad old-fashioned. Many rivals offer 800V. The maximum charging speed is only 145 kW, which is really slow for a car in this segment. Galaxy optimistically claims a 30-80% fast-charging time of 20 minutes.

Pricing of the Galaxy E8

Galaxy E8

This is where we get to the Geely E8’s main problem: its relatively high price. The base model costs 149.800 yuan, and the top-spec car goes for 198.800 yuan ($21.7K-30K). The Galaxy 610 Premium Edition is a mid-range model, priced at 153.800 yuan ($22.3K).

That may sound like a bargain, but this is China, and cars are cheap. The E8 is more expensive than most of its competitors. Furthermore, unlike those rival brands, Galaxy doesn’t offer huge discounts or other incentives. So, for now, I don’t expect sales of the Galaxy E8 to improve very much.
