Avatr 07: A Chinese Electric SUV With Daring Looks

This is the Avatr 07 SUV, seen in the parking lot of a robotics company in west Beijing. The electric SUV looked impressive, with its sheer size and its wild headlights. It is painted in Gravel Black with a gray interior.

About Avatr

Avatr is a mid-high-end NEV brand, founded in 2018 and based in Chongqing. The Chinese name is 阿维塔, Āwéitǎ. The main shareholders are Changan Automobile and battery maker CATL.  Huawei is a development partner and a major supplier, but not a shareholder.

Avatr sells four models in China: the Avatr 06 sedan, the Avatr 12 sedan, the Avatr 11 SUV, and the car in the photos, the new Avatr 07 SUV. Sales are a bit jumpy. In 2025, Avatr went from 7000 a month in January to 12.000 in June and back to 7000 in July. In July, Avatr held the 46th spot in the brand-sales rankings, just below Cadillac and just above MG.

The Avatr 07

The Avatr 07 is a mid-size SUV. Avatr launched it in 2024. The design is daring, unusual, and not immediately pleasing to the untrained eye. The 07 seems a tad too bulky, with a high nose, short hood, small side windows, and a wide D-pillar. The Avatr 07 stands on 20-inch tires with aero-wheels.

The interior of the Avatr 07

Avatr’s interiors look great, and the 07 is no exception. The cabin is spacious with lots of luxury around. The leather seats are wide and comfortable, fitted here with the factory-standard neck pillows.

The minimalist dashboard doesn’t have a single button. Every interaction goes via the gigantic 15.6-inch screen. The operating system is Huawei’s Harmony OS. Behind and above this screen is a cabin-wide 35.4-inch instrument panel. The square-shaped 3-spoke steering wheel is a typical Avatr feature. The shifter is located on the steering wheel column.

The rear-side windows are really small. The Avatr 07 is a five-seat car.  The Huawei Sound sound system is impressive, with 25 speakers and an output of 2016 watts. Boom!

Specifications of the Avatr 07

Avatr offers four different power trains: EREV RWD, EREV AWD, EV RWD, and EV AWD. Each variant is available in two trim levels. The car in the photos is the EV RWD base model, the Avatr 07 Pro+.

The Huawei OneDrive electric motor puts out 252 (343 hp) and 365 Nm. With that, the top speed is 200 km/h, and 0-100 takes 6.3 seconds. The battery supplier is, of course, CATL. The capacity is exactly 82.16 kWh. It has an electricity consumption of 14.5 kWh/100 km and a claimed CLTC range of 650 kilometers (404 miles). The Avatr 07 has an 800V architecture. Fast  4.5C charging from 30 to 80% takes only 10.2 minutes, and that makes the Avatr 07 one of the fastest-charging Chinese SUVs.

Price of the Avatr 07 in China

The Avatr 07 Pro+ costs 209.900 yuan or $29.4K. The price range of the entire 07 lineup starts at 199.900 yuan (28K) for the base EREV, and ends at 284.900 yuan ($40K) for the top-spec EV.

Annabel Yao

Chinese car brands love celebrity endorsement deals. The “ambassador” for the Avatr 06 is Annabel Yao (姚安娜, Yáo Annà), a famous singer and film and television actress. Her birthname is 姚思为 (Yáo Sīwèi). She is the daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei and his second wife, Yao Ling. Family connections! The photo shows Yao with a bold short haircut and an Avatr 07 in a pretty light blue color, which, oddly, is not actually available.
