Nissan 350Z Is Slightly Modified In China

Nissan 350Z

A pretty Nissan 350Z sports car, as seen in the Sanlitun embassy district in east Beijing in 2013. The good Nissan was in great shape, painted in a fiery red color which Nissan called Redline.

The 350Z was sexed up with lowered suspension, extra-large five-spoke alloy racing wheels, and darkened windows. The Nissan 350Z was a Japanese sports car manufactured from 2002 until 2008.

The Nissan 350Z was officially sold on the Chinese car market as an import, starting in 2004. At the time, the Nissan brand was still quite popular, and the 350Z was a perfect halo car for Nissan. It wasn’t cheap. Nissan only sold the top trim level in China, with the automatic gearbox, which went for a massive 582.000 yuan. That was Mercedes money, so sales were rather slow, and the 350Z has always been a rare sight on the road. And the few ones that are around are almost always modified.

The red light units work well with the body color. There are two rusty exhaust pipes under the bumper. It looks like this car was well-used!  And it should be, with that wonderful motor under the hood: a 3.5 liter naturally aspirated V6 with an output of 280 hp and 363 Nm. Power went to the rear wheels via a 5-speed AMT. The claimed top speed in China was 245 km/h, with a 0-100 in 6.5 seconds. A great car this Nissan was, too bad that the price was so high, otherwise there would have been many more of these in town.
