Volvo C70 Is Red In China

All red cars look like a Ferrari. Case in point: this Volvo C70 coupe that I saw in Beijing in 2010. The C70 is one of the best looking cars ever, period. And in red it is just brilliant.

Behind the C70 stood a rather old Jinbei van. Sadly I didn’t really notice it at the time so it stood ignored ):

The first generation Volvo C70 was made from 1996 until 2004 with a small facelift in 1999. This Beijing car is a pre-facelift example. The C70 was available with a long list of engines. The least powerful was a 170hp 2.5 and the most powerful the 250hp 2.3 turbo T5.

Our red Volvo C70 was in a perfect shape and fitted with a beige leather interior, a perfect match for the red body. The alloys were factory standard and looked like new.

The first generation Volvo C70 was officially sold in China from 2001 until 2004. They sold the coupe and the convertible. Over the years I have seen a few coupes but never a convertible. In 2004, price started at 800.000 yuan exactly for the T5 2.3 turbo model.

The license plate is interesting. In pinyin, Volvo is written as Wo’er wo. Probably a coincidence but you never know…
