This is a JAC Kunspeed ET9 at a JAC Commercial Vehicles dealership in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China. I had never come across the Kunspeed before, so the moment I spotted it, I rushed over like a madman. The staff gave me a warm welcome and gladly showed me around the truck.
About JAC

JAC is a Chinese car brand under the JAC Group, a major Chinese carmaker founded in 1964 and based in Hefei, Anhui Province. It makes passenger cars, pickup trucks, trucks, and vans.

JAC Commercial Vehicles is a division of JAC, responsible for the distribution of trucks and vans. The passenger cars and pickup trucks use a separate distribution network.
The JAC Kunspeed ET9

The JAC Kunspeed ET9 is a light electric truck, launched in November 2025. The Chinese name is 坤鹏 (Kūnpéng). The shop had two Kunspeed ET9s on display: a refrigerated box truck and one with a bare chassis.

The aerodynamic cabin is an absolute eye catcher, especially compared to the regular JAC truck on the right. The drag coefficient is only 0.33 Cd, which is super impressive for a truck. The body is super smooth, with soft edges, fully integrated headlights, and a large aerodynamic roof fairing above the cab. JAC claims that the aerodynamics give an efficiency gain of 30%.

The Kunspeed badge on the side of the cabin, with a green-lightning symbol. The Kunpeng ET9 acts as a “Suburban-to-City” or “City-to-City” connector. It is designed for logistics companies and owner-operators who need to haul goods from large regional distribution hubs (outside the city) directly into urban centers, or between adjacent cities, without needing to stop and recharge mid-route.
The interior

Both trucks were factory-fresh, with the protective plastic still on the seats. The windows are huge, so the driver has a perfect view. Without a center tunnel, the floor is completely flat.
The drive selector is mounted on the steering wheel column, and the driver looks out over an 8.8-inch digital display. The fit & finish are neat for a truck in this segment, with some blue panels to make the cabin a little nicer.
The Kunpeng ET9 seats 3, one driver and two co-drivers, but the middle seat seems quite small. Standard equipment includes air conditioning and a radio with a USB port for playing MP3s.
Specifications of the JAC Kunspeed ET9

The powertrain is easily accessible. The chassis of this kind of truck always looks a little basic, compared to the high-tech look of the cabin. This is totally normal; these trucks are cheap and manufactured to last thousands of miles in often harsh conditions, so there’s no need to make them look pretty underneath.

The drive motor powers the rear wheels. The output is 180 kW and 220 Nm.

The CATL “Tianxing” LFP battery pack has a 120.27 kWh capacity, good for a range of 510 kilometers CLTC. The orange wiring seems dangerously close to the road…

The 2C dual-charging capability, with one charger charging on each side at the same time, makes for a 20-80% charging time of only 18 minutes, and that’s impressive for the segment.
Load her up

Note the aerodynamic side skirts to reduce drag; the skirts even cover the rear wheel. The cargo box volume is approximately 20 m³, and the rated payload capacity is 1.5 tons. Characters, red, on top: 冷藏车, “Refrigerated truck”. Green, bottom: 冷藏车 I 类, Refrigerated truck Class F.
Price of the JAC Kunspeed ET9 in China

The official price for the JAC Kunpeng ET9 ranges from 235.000 to 325.000 yuan ($32K to $44K), depending on the cargo body type and exact configuration. The guy I talked to said that after local subsidies & incentives, the base bare chassis model cost only around 200.000 yuan ($30 K), and that seems a very good deal for such a modern electric truck in China. Before I left, the staff handed me a brochure and an ice-cold bottle of water. Thanks! If I ever start a trucking company in China, I will seriously consider the JAC Kunpeng ET9.
