Here’s an Avatr 06, a pretty Chinese sports sedan. It has eye-catching headlights and a Huawei lidar on the roof. The White/Black car in the photos is the EREV version, with a combined range of 1250 kilometers.
About Avatr

Avatr is a mid-high-end NEV brand, founded in 2018 and based in Chongqing. The Chinese name is 阿维塔, Āwéitǎ. The main shareholders are Changan Automobile and battery maker CATL. Avatr sells four models in China: the Avatr 06 sedan, the Avatr 12 sedan, the Avatr 07 SUV, and the Avatr 11 SUV.

Huawei is a development partner and a major supplier, but not a shareholder. Note the red HI badge, which means “Huawei Inside”. Avatr sales have been a bit bumpy in 2025. The lowest position was 51st in January, and the highest was 34th in April. In August 2025, the last month we have data from, Avatr sold 9394 cars, good for the 44th spot in the brand-sales rankings, with a 0.46% market share. The most popular Avatr is the 06 sedan, like the car in the photos.
The Avatr 06

The Avatr 06 is a sporty mid-size sedan. Avatr launched it in China in early 2025. It may look like a fastback, but it really has a traditional 3-box body. It is a beautiful car with near-perfect proportions. The front and rear light design is almost art. It has super short overhangs, a short hood, wide fenders, and wide hips. The L2.5 “Huawei ADS Max” ADAS has 12 cameras. 12 ultrasonic radars, 3 millimeter-wave radars, and one lidar on the roof.

The most notable part of the design is at the rear: the Avatr 06 doesn’t have a rear window. Instead, it relies on a camera, which sits just below the roof line. It also has a small ducktail spoiler and racy winglets below the bumper. Avatr’s chief designer is Nader Faghihzadeh, who previously worked for BMW. At BMW, he was responsible for cars like the BMW X3, X4, 3-Series, and the i8 and i3. Interesting cars, but about as thrilling as a spreadsheet. I guess Mr. Faghihzadeh got bored there. It’s hard to imagine BMW creating a car like the Avatr 06!
The interior of the Avatr 06

Avatr’s interiors look great, and the 06 is no exception. The cabin is spacious with lots of luxury around. The white-black leather seats are wide and comfortable, fitted here with the factory-standard neck pillows. The minimalist dashboard doesn’t have a single button; everything goes via the gigantic 15.6-inch screen. The operating system is Huawei’s Harmony OS. Behind and above this screen is a cabin-wide 35.4-inch instrument panel. The shifter is located on the steering wheel column. Oddly, the owner put a tissue box on the 50W wireless charger.

The side windows are rather small. That goes against the latest large-windows trend in Chinese automotive design. Note the many speakers and subwoofers splattered around the cabin. The Avatr 06 has a Huawei Sound 25-speaker audio system with a 2016-watt output. That’ll swing!
Specifications of the Avatr 06

The Avatr 06 is based on the CHN Platform. Avatr offers various EV and EREV variants. The car in the photos is the top-spec EREV; the Avatr 06 Ultra Extended Range Edition. The complex RWD power train combines a 115 kW (156 hp) 1.5 turbo with a 231 kW (314 hp)/367 Nm electric motor. The top speed is 190 km/h, and 0-100 takes 6.9 seconds.

It has a 55-liter fuel tank and a CATL 45.06 kWh LFP battery. Avatr claims an energy consumption of 18.8 kWh/100 km and a fuel consumption of 5.6 liters per 100 km. The EV range is an impressive 330 km, and the combined range is 1250 km. Fast-charging (400V) from 30-80% takes 10.2 minutes exactly.
Pricing

The Avatr 06 Ultra Extended Range Edition costs 254.900 yuan or $35.8K. That’s a pretty good deal for a car with so much tech and power. The base EREV model costs $29.5K. According to rumors in China, Avatr is working on a more powerful EREV with twin-electric motors. Let it come! More power is always better.
