Snow Beer On A Hafei Zhongyi Flatbed Truck In China

Snow beer China

Here we have a Hafei Zhongyi pickup truck, seen in the ultra far east of Beijing in January 2015. The truck was loaded with 24-bottle crates of Snow beer, making any man extremely thirsty.

Snow Beer (雪花啤酒, Xuěhuā píjiǔ, lit.: snow flake beer) is a delicious lager beer brewed in Shenyang, capital of northern China’s Liaoning Province. The brewery was originally founded in 1934 but the modern-day Snow Beer brewery hails from 1993. In its early years, Snow was only sold in northern China, where it hailed from, but nowadays the stuff is sold all over China. It is a very popular beer in restaurants. The best selling versions have an alcohol percentage of 3.5 to 4.5%, which is a lovely light beer when you are beasting a hot pot meal in a cold northern winter.

When I just moved to China, ages ago, Snow wasn’t very popular in Beijing. Local champion Yanjing kept all competitors out until the early 2000’s. But after 2005 or so, I saw Snow Beer popping up in all kinds of restaurants in the capital. I loved the taste but I was so used to Yanjing that I always choose the latter over the former. Note the restaurants in the background. I’ve been dozens of times to each of ‘m, drinking Snow like water.

Hey! Why would you look at a tiny screen when you could deliver Snow Beer? Get your priorities in order, Mr delivery driver.

The Hafei Zhongyi two-door pickup truck was powered by a 1.0 liter four-cylinder petrol engine, good for 48 hp and 86 Nm. Not a lot of power, but still enough to haul a whole lot of beer.
