Ford Mustang Boss 302 Is A Speedy American Coupe In China

Ford Mustang Boss 302

A Ford Mustang Boss 302, seen in 2015 near the Goldenport race track in Beijing. Note the Shelby GT500 in the background, I’ll get back to that one later on. The froggy green paint job was a factory color, looking very speeding with black racing stripes, darkened windows, and matte gray alloy wheels.

The Mustang Boss 302 was a racy track-ready variant of the Mustang GT, which in turn was a variant of the 5th generation Ford Mustang.  The Boss 302 was powered by a 5.0 liter V8 with 446 hp and 515 Nm. The engine was mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, sending every horse to the rear wheels.  The Boss 302 was furthermore equipped with adjustable suspension, and it was lowered by 11 millimeter, all for more speed on track.

Subtle spoiler on the rear, lights beautifully integrated in the rear. Huge exhaust pipes to make that motor smoke!

The fifth generation Ford Mustang was officially imported in China, and quite popular at the time. At any car event one would see Mustang clubs and heavily modified Mustangs. Price of the Boss 302 model, when new in 2012, started at 1.28 million yuan. That was a lot of extra money for a few performance upgrades! For comparison, the 5.0 GT model, with 408 hp and 511 Nm, and the same gearbox, sold for only 868.000 yuan. The Boss 302 is therefore a rather rare Mustang in China. Too bad, because that color and those racing stripes make it a great deal no matter what.
