Ford Territory

A brand new Ford Territory, seen on a cold day in Beijing in January 2020. The Ford looked nice in white but it really needs a set of larger wheels. The Ford Territory is a China-only compact SUV, launched in 2018.

The Ford Territory is manufactured by the Jiangling-Ford joint venture. It is based on the Jiangling Yusheng 330.  It is basically the same car, with only a new front and rear, new wheels, and new badging. That is not a bad thing, the Territory is a nice looking car, albeit a bit generic.

The Ford Territory is powered by a 1.5 liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine developed by Jiangling. Output is 138 hp and 225 Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual or a CVT. Price in China (2021) starts at 109.800 yuan.

The interior is great, with sporty leather seats, a high center tunnel, and a 10.25 inch touch screen for the infotainment. The dials are partially digital and the buttons look very neat. The door trim design is very nice.

The rear compartment with a lot of legroom.

The rear has a clean design with two square shaped exhaust pipe tips.

Territory lettering over the rear.

Jiangling Ford badge (江铃福特). Ecoboost badge is a bit deceiving as the engine was developed and is manufactured by Jiangling.

The Territory has become quite a popular SUV, it is the perfect size for China and has lots of luxury for the money. The successor for the current model is expected in 2024.
