Great Wall Hover Limousine

A white Great Wall Hover Limousine, seen on the road near Bedaihe in Hebei province, with a flagpole on the front fender. The big limo has yellow commercial-vehicle license plates from Liaoning province.

The Great Wall Hover Limousine was manufactured from 2006 to 2012, with a facelift in 2009. Our white car is an original pre-facelift example. In 2008, price for the limo started at 300.000 yuan.

Over years it changed its name twice: first to Haval Limousine and then to Haval H5 Limousine. Length is 6.87 meters, just over two meters longer than the standard car. Power came from a 2.4 liter Shenyang-Mitsubishi 4G64S Sirius four-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 140hp and 205nm, mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Great Wall had some success with the limousine. Many were sold to wedding companies in China. One white example was shipped to Cuba for Castro, and it was exported to several countries including South Africa, Nigeria, Romania, Ukraine, and Syria, to name but a few.

The Great Wall Hover Limousine came with a seven-seat cabin, and was fitted with luxurious sofa’s, a minibar, and a karaoke system. The roof spoiler was standard, generating the necessary downforce to keep this giant car on the road with a bunch of drunks inside. I saw it when I was in a taxi on my way to the beach, and I suspect the limo was heading there too.
