This is not a 1960’s Rolls-Royce Phantom V from England. Instead, this is a Jinma QJM5037XLF from China. The nearly seven-meter long limousine was seen in Beijing by Lao Wei, thank you for the pictures!

Jinma, or Golden Horse, was a brand name of a company called Suo’er Automobile, based in the great city of Qingdao in Shandong Province. They used the English brand name Soar.

They were a so called ‘specialty car maker’, a company that builds cars based on existing platforms. Soar was specialized in ambulances, water trucks, and garbage trucks.

As a side business, they made a series of ‘wedding cars’, limousine-like vehicles designed to resemble a classic western car, vehicles of this kind were mostly bought by wedding companies, hence the name, and by hotels.

Because Suo’er Automobile is officially registered as an automaker, the Jinma Rolls Royce got an official designation: QJM5037XLF. But there is a small catch: it is registered as a truck, not as a passenger car.

The Jinma QJM5037XLF was based on a body-on-frame chassis manufactured by Great Wall. The engine was supplied by Shenyang-Mitsubishi, a China-made variant of the famous 2.4 liter Mitsubishi Sirius engine, here good for 134 hp.

It is a giant machine: 6900/1920/1740, wheelbase 4800 and curb weight is 1920 kilo. There are Rolls-Royce badges on the front, doors, and rear.

They also made short wheelbase variant, but that is a much rarer car, and doesn’t seem to have an official designation.

The company has a somewhat messy recent history. They were gone in the mid-2000’s, revived in the early 2010’s, but nowadays they seem dead again. Their website of offline and I can’t find any recent listings of their products. Too bad, because their big Rollers were super cool.

More on Soar’s other wedding cars soon!
