This is the Renault Laguna Coupe. It is not an unpretty car. It is just… different. It is also French.

The third generation X91 ‘Renault Laguna III’ was made from 2007 until 2015, in sedan, wagon, and coupe forms. The coupe was very similar to the sedan until the B-pillar, but behind that the lines totally changed with a very long sloping rear end, ending up in an odd narrow looking boot lid.

Wheels look great.

The third generation Laguna was officially marketed in China, but only the sedan and coupe. Price of the latter started at 251.800 yuan and ended at 360.000 yuan. Engines: 2.0, 2.0 turbo, and 3.0.

The Laguna Coupe was available with Renault’s ‘4control’ four-wheel steering system. There were various engine options, ranging from a meager 1.6 to a big 3.5 liter V6.

Sadly there were no engine badges on the car I saw so I can’t be absolutely sure what is under the bonnet here. The most common engine for the Coupe was a 2.0 turbo with 170-200 hp, depending on specifications. Gearbox was either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

A very wide and heavy-looking dashboard. Nothing sporty going on.

The rear end is arguably the worst part of the car, there is just too much going on from the C-pillar down to the bumper. But is sure is… different!

Happily, the front looks much better. Right?
