This is the Geely Meirenbao, China’s first sports car. I met this brilliant red example in the summer of 2023 near Zhangjiakou in China’s Hebei Province. The Meirenbao was in good shape, a bit dusty and busted, but otherwise okay, and fitted with the original six-spoke alloy wheels.

A beautiful Geely Meirenbao sporty car in central Beijing in the late summer of 2012. At the time, the Meirenbao was still a common sight in the Chinese capital. It was painted bright red and fitted with big ‘and shiny after-market alloy wheels.

A beautiful black Geely Meirenbao sports car, seen in Beijing in 2011. The great Meirenbao was in a great shape, looking almost as new, painted in black with the original alloy wheels. The car was fitted with a racy after-market body kit and a fake air intake on the bonnet.
Here we have a Geely Meirenbao sports car, seen in Beijing in 2015. It was totally original, bar for strips on the front bumper. It is rare to see these cars without lots of ugly modifications.

A mellow yellow Geely Meirenbao, seen late at day in Beijing. The sporty Gee’ was in a good shape inside and out, and still standing on its original wheels. It is rare to see a near-standard Meirenbao, as many were modified.
