I went to an Xpeng shop in China. The reason for my visit was the new Xpeng P7, one of the wildest mainstream Chinese cars ever. Happily, the shop had a Rhythm Yellow example on display right behind the door.

This is the Xpeng G7, a Chinese electric SUV. I met the G7 in western Beijing earlier this summer. It was brand new, with the dealer sticker still attached to the windscreen. The G7’s design is interesting, quite daring, and busy to the eye. But it somehow works.

On a cloudy day in the summer, I went to an Xpeng experience store in a large shopping mall in central Beijing. The store had 5 cars on display: the new Xpeng Mona M03, the Xpeng G9, the Xpeng G6, the Xpeng P7, and the gigantic Xpeng X9 MPV.

This is an XPeng G6, as seen in the Chinese capital Beijing in 2023. The good G6 looked brand new, painted in a bright orange shade that Xpeng calls “Melting Cloud Orange.” It surely melted all the gray and black cars parked around it.
