Here’s a Porsche 911 GT3, seen at a nondescript parking lot in east Beijing in the spring of 2018. The German supercar stood unattended between a Porsche Panamera and a Jaguar XJS. It was an unusual spot for such a rare and massively expensive machine.

I went to an Xpeng shop in China. The reason for my visit was the new Xpeng P7, one of the wildest mainstream Chinese cars ever. Happily, the shop had a Rhythm Yellow example on display right behind the door.

Here’s an Onvo L90 SUV, seen at a parking lot in northern Beijing. The L90 had just been launched when I saw it, so it was brand new, with a temporary license plate number behind the front window.

Here’s a Zeekr 001 FR, seen at the parking lot of a Zeekr shop in northern Beijing. The speedy FR had a damaged front lip. Zeekr calls the stealthy gray color “Lava Gray”. The 001 FR has 1265 hp and a 280 km/h top speed.

This is a Ford Taurus GL sedan, seen in central Beijing in the cold winter of 2013. The American sedan was in reasonable shape, painted in dark green and fitted with factory-original wheel covers. It also had very old black Beijing license plates.
Here’s a Toyota Izoa EV, a super-rare electric car for the Chinese car market. I saw it in northwest Beijing in late summer. The Izoa EV, “EV” is part of its name, was a China-only electric hatchback.
I went to a Xiaomi shop in Beijing on a surprisingly hot summer afternoon. My primary target was the new Xiaomi YU7 SUV, one of the biggest hits in China this year. Immediately upon entry, I found this pretty YU7 painted in Titanium Gray with a Coral Orange Interior. Well, that was a good start, but it would only get better.
