Fangcheng Bao Tai 3: Cool Electric SUV With 310 kW

This is a Fangcheng Bao Tai 3, seen in southern Beijing in the early evening of a windy spring day. The Ore Green SUV looked fantastic with its wild, in-your-face design. Time for an up-close inspection.

About Fangcheng Bao

Fangcheng Bao (方程豹) is a Chinese NEV brand under BYD. It literally means “Formula Leopard”, but BYD hasn’t announced any official English brand name yet. The brand launched in 2023 with the Fangcheng Bao Bao 5, and today it has a 4-car lineup, but many more models are on the way. The brand has been a success. In April 2026, it sold 21.138 units, good for the 26th spot (out of 112) in the brand-sales rankings.

The Fangcheng Bao Tai 3

The Fangcheng Bao Tai 3 debuted in 2025. It is the smallest car of the brand so far. “Tai” (钛) means titanium. The design is absolutely mad, and I love it. The SUV looks like a military vehicle, or a concept, yet it is real.

It features a high, short nose, big black bumpers, wide fenders and wheel arches, black cladding on the doors, a roof rack, and a luggage box on the back. Cool details include the air inlets and vents in the wheel arch extenders, the hidden door handles, and the gray aero wheel covers. The tire size is 245/50 R19.

The interior

The cabin looks a little cramped, due to the relatively small windows and the dark-gray color scheme. Like many of these off-road-style cars, it has some sturdy buttons at the center tunnel and an old-school drive selector. The 8.8-inch driver’s display is small, but the 15.6-inch touch screen is huge for the segment.

The Tai 3 features an enormous panoramic sunroof and lots of legroom in the rear. The owner added an aftermarket seat cover – in purple. Standard equipment includes a 14-speaker sound system and ambient lighting.

Specifications of the Fangcheng Bao Tai 3

The car in the photos is a 2025 Fangcheng Bao Tai 3 AWD Ultra model. That matters because earlier this year, the brand launched an updated 2026 car. Yes, in China, updates come every year nowadays.

It has a dual-motor AWD powertrain with 310 kW and 510 Nm, divided by 110 kW/200 Nm front and 200 kW/310 Nm rear. The top speed is 201 kilometers per hour. 0-100? Well, just check the badge:

BYD and its many brands have been doing this for about a decade now: printing the 0-100 time on a badge on the back. They don’t do it for every model – only for the fast ones.

The BYD Blade LFP battery has a 72.96 kWh capacity, which is a lot for such a small car. The energy consumption is 16.5 kWh/100 km for a CLTC range of 501 kilometers. The Tai 3 has an 800V architecture, and the max charging speed is 215 kW. A 30-80 charge takes harging takes 20 minutes.

DiPilot

Another cool badge, this one for BYD’s DiPilot ADAS. The English name of the system is DiPilot. The Chinese name is 天神之眼 (Tiānshén Zhīyan), and that means “God’s Eye”, which is a great name. The Tai 3 has DiPilot 100, the base version, with 12 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 5 millimeter wave radars. Computing power comes from an 84 TOPS Nvidia Drive Orin N chipset.

Price of the Fangcheng Bao Tai 3 AWD Ultra

The 2025 model is still available today, next to the newer 2026 model. The  2025 Fangcheng Bao Tai 3 AWD Ultra costs 163.800 yuan, or $24K. Even for China, that’s almost an unbelievable deal. No wonder these things are all over the place in Beijing!
