Neta S Shooting Brake Is A Pretty Chinese EV Wagon With 272 HP

Here’s a Neta S Shooting Brake, seen at a car market in east Beijing. Station wagons are popular in China right now. Many car makers offer new wagons, but Neta was one of the first.

About Neta

Neta S Shooting Brake

Neta was a Chinese NEV brand, launched in 2018.  Neta’s parent company was Hozon Auto, founded in 2014 and based in Shanghai. After a promising start, Neta’s sales started to slide during the Pandemic.

It then became involved in several scandals about inflated sales numbers and murky shareholder dealings. Sales went down further, and in September 2025, Neta was declared bankrupt. The company is still trying to reach a deal with its creditors, but the outcome is highly uncertain.

Characters: 合众, Hézhòng, Hozon.

It’s too bad. Neta was a cool brand, trying cool stuff, and creating unique cars like the Neta GT. Neta’s main problem was the cutthroat competition in its main segment, from the likes of BYD, Changan, Chery, and Xpeng.

The Neta S Shooting Brake

Neta S Shooting Brake

The Neta S Shooting Brake is a beautiful station wagon based on the Neta S sedan. It has a long, slightly sloping roofline, a spoiler above the rear window, wide hips, and a fiery red light bar.

The term “Shooting Brake” is part of its name. The Chinese term is 猎装车, lièzhuāng chē, literally “hunting vehicle”.

There’s another duck-tail-style spoiler on the boot lid.

Neta launched the S Shooting Brake in August 2024, shortly before the company’s troubles got serious. That makes the wagon the rarest Neta ever. I have only seen two on the streets of Beijing.

The interior of the Neta S Shooting Brake

The interior is luxurious, with a tad of added sportiness. It has real leather seats, carbon-fiber-style trim, and Neta-branded neck pillows. The owner added blue seat covers and, as always, a tissue box.

Neta’s interiors pack a lot of tech. It has a 13.3-inch driver’s display, a 49-inch HUD, a 17.6-inch touch screen, and a 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger. Note the professional walkie-talkie in the storage bin in the center tunnel. There’s a flip-phone on the 50W wireless charger.

The Neta S Shooting Brake is a large car, so there’s a lot of space in the back.  The dimensions of the wagon are 4980/1980/1480, 2980. The trunk’s capacity is 593 liters or 1295 liters with the rear seats folded down. The frunk adds another 60 liters.

The windows are large, and it has a panoramic sunroof, so the cabin is airy and light, even on a cloudy day. Neta furthermore equipped the station wagon with a 22-speaker audio system with an output of 2160 watts.

Price

Neta S Shooting Brake

When new, the Neta S Shooting Brake Pure Electric 510 Air Edition cost 159.900 yuan or $22.4K. That was a good deal for a Chinese electric station wagon. Keeping these cars around is not easy. Most of Neta’s service centers have closed. Some third-party companies, based on markets like these, offer basic maintenance, but specific parts are already hard to get. Well, let’s hope this pretty Turquoise Green example remains on the road.
