Porsche Panamera Executive Is A Long-wheelbase Porsche In China

Porsche Panamera Executive

This is a rare Porsche Panamera Executive, seen in Beijing in 2015. The car seemed very new and looked great in white with multispoke gray wheels and a brown-red interior.

The Executive was a long-wheelbase variant of the facelifted version of the first generation Porsche Panamera. It was specifically developed for the Chinese car market, where almost every car gets a long-wheelbase version. Later on, however, the Executive was sold in other markets as well. It took Porsche quite a while to develop the Executive. In the meantime, German tuner RUF was offering a limo-like variant of the Panamera in China, but it didn’t sell well.

Wheelbase of the Panamera Executive was stretched by 15 centimeters. All the extra space went to the passengers in the back. I didn’t take a photo of the interior because they windows were too blacked-out. There was an enormous leg room and two captain seats. I found some pics on the Chinese internet, see this photo and that one. Size comparison:

Panamera: 5015/1931/1418, 2920.
Panamera Executive: 5165/1931/1418, 3070.

Sales in China started in 2014. The Executive was offered in the base Panamera Executive level, like the one we have here, as the Panamera 4 Executive and even as the Panamera Turbo Executive. In 2014, price of the Panamera Executive model was 1.35 million yuan, which was not such a bad deal as the standard-wheelbase Panamera sold for 1.14 million.

In China, the Panamera Executive was powered by a twin-turbo 3.0 liter V6 engine with 320 hp and 420 Nm. The engine was mated to a 7-speed DCT, sending horses to rear wheels. Top speed was 260 km/h and 0-100 was gone in 6 seconds. That’s proper speed for a limousine! Somewhat surprising, considering the expected demand, the Executive models never sold particularly well, so these early 2014 cars are a pretty rare sight on the road.
