Brilliance BS4 Looks Nice In Orange In China

Brilliance BS4

A Brilliance BS4 sedan, seen in Beijing in 2013. The BS4 was painted in a bright orange with a black roof. Orange was not a factory color but this particular shade is being used by various traffic-related government services in China, so perhaps it is an ex-government car. License plate is from Hebei province.

The Brilliance BS4 was produced from 2006 until 2014 with a facelift in 2011. Our orange car is a pre-facelift example. The BS4, also known as the Junjie, was developed in cooperation with Porsche.

Brilliance wanted to export the BS4 to Europe, and they thought the Porsche connection would help sales. Sadly, after a disastrous crash test in Germany of the larger Brilliance BS6 the brand didn’t really have a chance. The BS4 sold only in small numbers in a few European markets.

The Brilliance BS4 could be had with a 1.6, another 1.6, a 1.8, a 1.8 turbo, and a 2.0. The base 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 were sourced from Mitsubishi, the other 1.6 and the 1.8 turbo were developed by Brilliance. Price in 2010 started at 94.800 yuan, which was a pretty good deal for a smart looking sedan with some Porsche DNA.
