Jaguar XJ6 Is White In China

Jaguar XJ6
Jaguar XJ6.

A white Jaguar XJ6 sedan, seen on a very cold winter’s day in the far north of the Chinese capital Beijing. The single-wiper Jag’ was covered with the typical Beijing dust but otherwise in a fine shape.

The Jaguar XJ6 was the base model of the Jaguar XJ140 XJ-Series. The XJ6 was made from 1986 until 1994. The rectangular headlights were introduced in 1991.

The XJ6 was powered by a 4.0 liter inline six-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 223 hp and 376 Nm. All horses went to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Top speed was 225 kilometers per hour and 0-100 was gone in a speedy 8.5 seconds.

The incredible interior was in a very good shape. The beige leather looked beautiful and the wood is still very good. Note the many buttons on the panel beside the steering wheel. These were typical for Jaguars and Daimlers of the era and controlled the complicated dashboard electronics, including a rather advanced trip computer. Radio/CD player is original.

A mysterious FSK sticker on the window. I have failed to find out more. If you know what it means please let me know in the comments.

When benches were good enough to sleep on…

The XJ140 XJ6 was not officially sold in China. The license plate frame and the reflectors on the sides of the bumpers indicate this particular car was originally delivered to North America. Somehow it ended up on Chinese shores.

Shiny as new; the XJ6 badge on the back.

A British beauty in Beijing.
