This is a Chevrolet Express 1500 Explorer Limited conversion van. It is based on the 1996-2002 Chevrolet Express 1500, and converted by an American outfit called the ‘Explorer Van Company’, and that is a great name.
A wine red Toyota Previa, seen at a car inspection site in east Beijing. The pretty Previa was in a pretty good shape, and likely the best I have ever seen in country.
This fine white MPV is a Mazda MPV, seen near the Wufang car market in east Beijing. The good Maz’ was in great general shape, but in need of a proper wax-job.

A very sweet SouEast Freeca DN6440-III MPV, with a factory plastic bull bar and painted in a classy wine red. The fine Freeca was in a good shape, and clearly still used as a daily driver.

A somewhat sad fifth generation Toyota Celica liftback, seen on a car market in south Beijing. The poor car was covered in a thick layer of dust and dirt but seemed otherwise perfectly salvageable.

This gray little fellow is a Hafei Saibao, a small sedan designed by none other than Pininfarina. Does it show..? I think it does. The overall design is certainly better than other Chinese sedans of that period, but some details seem odd, such as the lights and the far-too wide wheel arches.

This little red racer is the Arcfox Lite, a cool looking two-seat electric city car. It was launched on the Chinese car market last year, but they are a very rare sight on the road.

This is a very special car: a Yunbao YB6470, a China-made Y30 Nissan Cedric wagon. I found this beauty parked on a small road in south Beijing, looking perfectly fine for its age, and painted in a sweet kind of wine red.
