This is the Baojun Yep Plus, seen in the late afternoon in Beijing. The Yep Plus looked great in Azure Blue with a white roof and tinted windows. The boxy SUV packs 102 hp, and it has a 402-kilometer range.

About Baojun

Baojun is a Chinese car brand. Its Chinese name is 宝骏 (Bǎojùn), which means “Precious Horse”.  Baojun’s logo is a stylised horse head.

The owner of Baojun is SGMW. This is a 3-way joint venture between SAIC (50.1%), General Motors (44%), and Guangxi Auto (5.9%). This company also owns the Wuling brand.

Baojun sells a range of modern NEV SUVs and sedans. Sales are okay. In 2025, Baojun sold 49.262 cars, good for a 0.21% market share and the 57th spot (out of 119) in the brand-sales rankings.

The Baojun Yep Plus

The Baojun Yep Plus is a compact SUV, launched in April 2024. The Yep Plus is a five-door variant of the three-door Baojun Yep. The design is brilliant, with a boxy body and a floating-roof effect. The lights are a work of art.

Baojun Yep Plus

The Baijun Yep Plus is a typical Chinese off-road style SUV. It has big black bumpers, wide fenders, extended wheel arches, and a beltline as straight as an arrow. The mirror housings, the roof, and the panel on the closed D-pillar are finished in white for extra contrast.

I’ve always liked the wheels of the Baojun Yep Plus. The alloys look super sharp and sporty, especially in this matte-gray color. The Linglong tires seem a little worn. The tire size is 205/60 R16.

The interior of the Baojun Yep Plus

Baojun does great interiors, and the Yep Plus is no exception. There’s plenty of space, with sporty fake-leather seats, a wide armrest, and high-quality materials. Check, for example, the stitching on the dashboard.

The cup holder is a beauty, a simple yet elegant idea. The steering wheel is perfectly round, a rarity in China these days. The drive-selector handle is mounted on the steering wheel column. The instrument panel measures 8.8 inches, and the main screen has a 10.1-inch diameter. There’s a single wireless charger at the front of the armrest.

The Yep Plus looks spacious in the back as well, thanks to the large windows and high roof. Standard equipment includes an 8-speaker audio system and a permanent 4G internet connection.

Specifications

The rear door opens to the right. The rear window is huge. Large windows are a new trend in China, and one I fully endorse. Finally, the world will get rid of letterbox windows and dark interiors!

The dimensions are: 3996/1760/1726, 2560. The Baojun Yep Plus is a front-wheel drive car. The electric motor produces 75 kW (102 hp) and 180 Nm. Baojun claims a 150 km/h top speed.

An interesting sticker. This phrase is a very common, cheerful Chinese good-luck message, especially popular on social media:

谢谢您让我
祝您顺风顺水
顺财神

The best translation is “Thank you for letting me [do something], wishing you smooth sailing in everything, and may the God of Wealth favor you.”  Hello Kitty is holding a gold ingot (元宝, Yuánbǎo), a traditional Chinese symbol of wealth and good fortune.

Baojun fits the Yep Plus with a 41.9 kWh LFP battery supplied by Gotian High-tech. The electricity consumption is 12.6 kWh/100 kilometers, and the range is 401 kilometers CLTC. Charging from 30 to 80% takes 35 minutes.

Price of the Baojun Yep Plus

The 2025 Baojun Plus costs between 93.800 yuan and 103.800 yuan, that’s $13.7K to $15.2K. That’s a good deal for such a cool car. Its direct competitors include cars like the Aion Y, the Changan Qiyuan Q05, and the Leapmotor B10.
