Hoxid ID7 Is A 3-Wheeled LSEV With Four Seats

Hoxid ID7

This is an Hoxid ID7, seen on a rainy day in the far south of Beijing, capital of China. The Hoxid ID7 is a three-wheeled low-speed electric vehicle (LSEV) with four doors and four seats, a somewhat unusual configuration.

About Hoxid

Hoxid is an LSEV brand; the Chinese name is 鸿喜达 (Hóngxǐdá). The brand’s owner is Honri Automobile Group, a major LSEV manufacturer founded in 1995 and headquartered in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. In addition to Hoxid, Honri Automobile also owns two other LSEV brands: Honri, which carries the company’s name, and VIAuto.

The Hoxid ID7 is the top 3-wheel model of Hoxid’s ID line. It debuted in 2024 at the 21st China (Jinan) New Energy Electric Vehicle Tricycle Exhibition in Shandong. The ID7 is a nice-looking machine with a futuristic design. It has a low hoof, a huge windshield for perfect visibility, large side windows, and fancy “Hoxid Sport” stickers on the doors.

The Hoxid logo has a heart, a dot, and a half-circle.

The interior

The unusual layout of the vehicle is very visible here. It is a three-wheeler, yet it has the steering wheel on the left and two front seats. Usually, LSEV three-wheelers have only a driver’s seat in the middle. The dashboard design is quite comprehensive, featuring a 7-inch driver’s display, wide air vents, a start-stop button, a volume knob, and a set of buttons. On the far-right side are two cupholders.

The front passenger seat is small, but just big enough for a short ride. The driver’s seat, on the other hand, is notably wide. The driver added a seat cover to protect the original cloth seat. He also added a pillow for extra comfort. The trim looks nice, with blue detailing and shiny door handles.

The Hoxid ID7 is a large vehicle for the LSEV segment, so there’s a lot of space in the back; legroom and headroom. The seats are double-seat covered, and there’s a floor mat too.  According to the manufacturer, the rear legroom measures 520 millimeters. That’s more than in many sedans! Hoxid calls the ID7 a “3-wheel MPV”.

Shanghai Volkswagen-themed front-seat covers. I am sure those are real!

Specifications of the Hoxid ID7

The bodywork covers the front wheel almost entirely, significantly reducing aerodynamic drag.

The 10 kW/80 Nm (peak) electric motor is on the rear axle. That’s a decent output for an LSEV. Hoxid doesn’t specify the top speed, but this kind of vehicle usually tops out around 35 km/h. Honri Automobile manufactures the LFP battery in-house.  The battery brandname 鸿博士 (Hóng Bóshì), and the English name is  “Dr. Hong”. Buyers can choose between a 6.4 kWh unit for a 120 km range or a 10.9 kWh unit for 160 kilometers.

The dimensions are 3082/1374/1586, with a 2230 millimeter wheelbase. The trunk capacity is 50 liters, which goes up to 310 liters with the rear seats folded down.

The front looks like a high-speed train, and the windshield wiper is a giant. The Hoxid ID7 costs about 9.000 yuan ($1.300), depending on the exact configuration. That’s not a lot of money for a car with so much space. More strange LSEVs from China in upcoming posts.
