Here’s a Haval Raptor, seen on a hot summer’s day in Western Beijing. The compact SUV looked great in Moon Embrace White, with black trim and dark gray alloy wheels. The Raptor has a 238 hp 2.0 turbo under the hood, and it has four-wheel drive.
About Haval

Haval is a Chinese SUV brand, founded in 2013. Great Wall Motor (GWM) is the brand’s owner. The Chinese name is 哈弗 (Hāfú). GWM also owns ORA, Tank, WEY, and Poer. Haval is one of the best-selling brands in China, with a lineup of eight ICE and PHEV SUVs. Haval doesn’t sell any EVs yet. In November 2025, Haval sold 33.136 cars in its home market, ranking 21st in the sales charts, just below Li Auto and just above Lynk & Co. Haval’s top seller in November was the Bif Dog. The Raptor came in 4th.
The Haval Raptor

The Haval Raptor is a compact SUV, launched in 2023. It is a typical Chinese boxy machine, with sturdy, no-nonsense off-road style looks. It has big bumpers, large lights, and a huge grille with nine shiny vertical bars. The car in the photos is the ICE version. Haval also sells a PHEV version with a slightly different design.
The interior

Haval’s interiors are typically no-nonsense, too. No fancy colors, strange-shaped steering wheels, or oversized screens. Instead, the Haval Raptor comes with black imitation-leather seats, a simple center tunnel with quite a few buttons, and large storage spaces. The handlebars on the B-pillar are the only thing funky. A lucky charm hangs from the mirror, and, as always, there’s a box of tissues at hand.

The touch screen has a 14.6-inch diameter, and there’s a 12.3-inch driver’s display. The shifter is mounted on the steering wheel column; this is now very common in China, even in ICE cars. The shiny dial at the center tunnel controls the 4WD settings.

Haval further equips the Raptor with a 10-speaker audio system, power windows, and a panoramic sunroof.
Specifications of the Haval Raptor

Haval powers the Raptor with a 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. The output is 175 kW (238 hp) and 385 Nm. The gearbox is a nine-speed DCT, sending horsepower to all wheels. The top speed is 200 km/h. The Raptor has a 60-liter fuel tank, which is quite large for a vehicle of this size. The fuel consumption is 8.65 liters per 100 kilometers.
Off-road

The full Chinese name is 哈弗猛龙 (Hāfú Měnglóng), Haval Raptor.
The Raptor is quite capable off-road, with a 20-centimeter ground clearance, a wading depth of 56 centimeters, an approach angle of 24 degrees, and a departure angle of 30 degrees. It also has a rear differential lock and various off-road driving modes, including creep mode and snow.
Price of the Raptor

This is 长城汽车 (Chángchéng Qìchē), Great Wall Motor, named, of course, after the Great Wall of China.
Haval sells two trim levels for the Raptor: the Pro and the Ultra. The powertrain is always the same. The car in the photos is the base Pro model. It costs 136.900 yuan ($19.6K).

It has a spare wheel on the back, with the reversing camera located in the middle of the wheel frame. The rear door opens to the right. Check the door handle, that’s as sturdy as they come! Typical Haval, indeed.
