This is the Geely Panda Mini Karting, a special edition of the Geely Panda Mini. I met this Flying Pink example at a Galaxy dealer in north Beijing, parked next to a Geely Panda Mini Knight.
How does that brand?
The name and brand situations are a bit confusing. At launch, it was part of Geely’s Geometry brand. So, in Chinese, the brand was 吉利几何 (Jílì Jǐhé, Geely Geometry). However, in English, it was badged as “Geome” instead of “Geometry”. The type name was, and still is, “熊貓 Mini” (Xióngmāo Mini, Panda Mini). In 2024, Geely cancelled Geometry as a brand.
Geely moved some of Geometry’s cars under Galaxy, which is another Geely brand. But it didn’t rebrand those cars to Galaxy. Instead, they were simply rebranded to Geely. But the “Geome” name stays around, but only on the car, and not in the actual type name. Thus, today, it is called the 吉利熊貓 Mini (Jílì Xióngmāo Mini, Geely Panda Mini), and it has a Geome badging on the front and rear. The Panda Mini is sold via Galaxy’s dealer network.
But, we’re not there yet. Today’s car is the Panda Mini Karting, so the full Chinese type name is 熊猫 Mini 卡丁 (Xióngmāo Mini Kǎdīng). However, the Karting name is not on the car. Makes sense, right? Nope, but Geely has a thing with messing up names, we’re used to it!
The Geely Panda Mini Karting
Murky branding business aside, the Geely Panda Mini Karting is utterly brilliant. It is a special edition with sporty looks, inspired by the karting racing sport. The car in the photos is painted in Flying Pink, with a black roof and dark-pink detailing. Geely also offers it in Racing Black and in Hurricane Gray, but Flying Pink is by far the coolest color.
Geely fitted the Panda Mini Karting with a body kit, including a front spoiler, fins on the hood, wide wheel arches, X-shaped wheel covers in pink-gray, and a huge racy wing on the roof.
Check! The fire equipment box has nearly the same color.
The rear bumper is partially finished in black.
The spoiler stands on two pylons, with a raised part in the middle, and it even has side flaps for extra downforce in the corners, I presume.
Interior of the Geely Panda Mini Karting
The overall interior design is unchanged compared to the standard car, but the Super Pink color scheme is unique for the Mini Karting. Note the Geome name on the right side of the dashboard.
Very basic, but it works. It is equipped with a 9.2-inch instrument panel and an 8-inch touch screen. The drive selector is in the middle, in front of the seats. The two-spoke steering wheel has a thick rim and a flat bottom.
The Geely Panda Mini is a four-seat car, but in reality, only small kids can sit in the rear.
Specifications of the Geely Panda Mini Karting
The Geely Panda Mini Karting is an electric minicar. The size is 3150/1540/1685, 2015. It is a rear-wheel drive car, with the motor sitting right on the rear axle. The output is 41 hp (30 kW) and 110 Nm. The top speed is 100 km/h. The 17.03 Guoxian Hi-Tech LFP battery has a capacity of 17.03 kWh and a consumption of 9.1 kWh/100 kilometers. Geely claims a 210-kilometer range.
Pricing
The Geely Panda Mini Karting costs 42.900 yuan, and that translates to exactly $ 6.007 USD. There are no options; the Karting has everything one may wish. The red car is the Panda Mini Knight, another special edition. More on that one in a later post.
