One Beijing-Jeep Cherokee I Almost Bought

Beijing-Jeep Cherokee

Before I bought my Beijing-Jeep Cherokee BJ7250 in 2004, I checked out several other vehicles, most of which were other Cherokees. It was my favorite. Most second-hand cars were sold in giant open-air markets.

It was there that I found this great Beijing-Jeep Cherokee, painted in factory purple and powered by the 4.0-liter six and with four-wheel drive. It had very old blue 京A license plates, and it was modified with a slightly raised suspension, big wheels, and shiny alloys.

It even had a real rear windshield wiper! I made a test drive. Shops on the market only allowed test drives in the market area itself. That was quite large, but I couldn’t go any faster than 40.

I really liked it, and it seemed to be in very good shape. In the end, I didn’t buy it because I wanted a manual gearbox, and this one had an automatic. Later on, I got to drive a lot of other 4.0s. They had a lot of grunt but were also much heavier than the 2.5, and they drank fuel far faster than I can drink my beer. So I guess in the end I chose the right one.
