A Subaru Impreza Wagon, seen on a tuning show in Beijing, China. It looks just stunning, painted in fiery red with a black bonnet and roof, darkened windows, gold wheels, and a fat STi intercooler hiding behind the bumper.
Subaru Impreza Wagon

The first-generation Impreza Wagon was made from 1992 until 2000. It came in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback form. The hatchback went under various names, depending on the market. It was called either hatchback, or wagon, or touring.
Our red Beijing Impreza, however, seems to be based on the North American variant of the hatchback, which was called the Subaru Impreza Outback. The Outback was available with 1.8 and 2.2 liter four-cylinder petrol engines, mated to a five-speed manual box.

Extra-wide arches cover the extra-wide rear wheel, painted in gold and armed with pink spikes.
The interior

The interior was sexed up with a Recaro seat for the driver, complete with Takata (from the airbags) seat belts. The stereo system is not original. The panel around the gear lever seems non-standard as well, and there is an intriguing pink button under the stereo. What does that do? It’s likely a boost of some sort.

Sadly, the good Suub stood alone on the tarmac, with no owner in sight, so I couldn’t find out more information about the car.

The black license plate is a fake. The enormous pipe is certainly real.

The pink STi badge on the grille is borrowed from the JDM Impreza. Anyway, a fantastic-looking car. Many more Subarus soon! I just keep seeing the damn things; it’s like they are following me all over the place.
