Nissan Sentra 1.8 Special Edition Is A Rare Sedan In China

Nissan Sentra

This is a Nissan Sentra sedan, seen in the early spring of 2017 in the Sanlitun embassy district in Beijing. The Sentra was in reasonable shape, a bit dusty and busted, with ugly stickers in strange places.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is in the background. Note the satellite dishes for communication, they had a lot of them, most embassies had like one or two at that time. I guess there were a lot of negotiations about oil deals going on!

Special Edition

Nissan produced the fifth-generation (B15) Sentra sedan from 1999 until 2006 with a facelift in 2004. The car in the photos is a Sentra 1.8 Special Edition, launched in 2005. It was a slightly sportier model, equipped with a rear spoiler, fog lights, and 16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.

Interior

Wow! A Nissan Sentra time-warp interior. That is super rare in China. The cabin is a little dusty, but everything is original. The fabric seats look great, and the center stack is perfectly maintained. Nissan equipped the Special Edition with a radio-CD player and with power windows as standard.

That spoiler is very subtle, but nicely integrated into the boot lid. The output of the 1.8-liter engine was 126 hp and 176 Nm. The transmission was a four-speed automatic. It had an impressive 175 km/h top speed, and 0-100 took 10.6 seconds.

Nissan mainly sold the Sentra in North and South America and Asia. It did not officially market the car in China. However, some cars reached the country through the gray market or were imported by foreign-owned companies. It could also be an ex-embassy car. But no matter how it arrived in China, it is great to see this rare Nissan Sentra 1.8 Special Edition on the road.
